weeks in our household are so busy lately. between work, workouts, cooking, cleaning, relax time, masters thesis writing (Jesse, not me) and whatever else comes our way we haven’t been having too many creative meals. today I finally had some time to get creative and was craving some turkey burgers. Jesse and I both have off of work tomorrow for his permanent residence interview (think The Proposal) except we are in fact a real couple. 7 years and still going strong!
anyway, this means i had a little bit more free time tonight (no bedtime) so i got a little creative on the grill. i recently stocked our freezer with easy to thaw meat so this morning i pulled out some Jenni-O turkey burgers. Most of the time I make my own burgers from fresh turkey/pork/beef whatever I’m in the mood for. I love the Jenni-O pre-made patties for nights that i’m short on time or just don’t want to get my hands dirty. i also had some pepper jack cheese left in the fridge that I needed to use AND my basil plant is growing like crazy. an interesting combo, i thought. and i was right! see pics & instructions below.
Basil Pepperjack Turkey Burgers
What you’ll need:
•1 package of Jenni-O Turkey Burger Patties
•4 slices pepperjack cheese
•generous handful of fresh basil (12-15 leaves)
How you doooo it:
1. Get the turkey burgers on the grill, cook on medium, medium-high. When cooked through place 3 basil leaves on each burger then top with slice of cheese. Close the grill lid just long enough to allow the cheese to melt.
2. Serve! You can serve on a bun if you wish, however we usually skip the bread! I topped my burger with Dijon mustard & it was delicious!
after dinner i was bit by the baking bug so i threw together Ambitious Kitchen’s Superfood Chocolate Chunk Paleo Brownies.
i am stuffed. and sleepy. and signing off now.
